With intermittent fasting, this is not the case as the fasting window is too short to induce a reduction in metabolism. This whole notion of many small meals comes from the bodybuilding world and is really not applicable to the general population.


Another fear of fasting is that muscle mass will be lost however studies have shown that when combined with resistance exercise fasting does not lead to any reduction in muscle mass but a reduction in fat mass.


Fasting is a good way to lose weight without calorie counting and complicated meal plans or nutrient cycling, it allows you to eat the foods you want in moderation and still achieve a calorie deficit.
